Making a pond

We really enjoyed looking at lifecycles and decided that we would make a pond for Frogs to live in.

We found one of our tough tubs and put stones for the frogs to sit on when the want to get out of the water.

The children added some mud for the bottom of the pond.
They used their big muscles and transported the mud from the bark area in to our pond.

Once the children had decided that they had enough mud they did some fantastic team work and added the water for the frogs to swim in.
We did get a little wet as it was fun to splash the
water on the side of the tub.

We added some bubble wrap to our water as it is very like frogspawn.
We talked about frogspawn being eggs and very jelly like.

We then looked at the next step. Tadpoles and we all tried to move like a Tadpole by wriggling very fast.

We talked about how the Tadpole grows legs and their tails get smaller and we looked at frogs.
Look I found one!

We had a lot of fun playing in our pond and learning about Frogs. Maybe some of the children have shared different parts of the frog lifecycle with you.
