A Garland for May Day

This morning the children in Elephant Room had a great time playing with flowers and leaves.

We learnt that people used to celebrate the beginning of May by dancing and making garlands of flowers.

We decided to make our own garland!

First we had to sort out the leafy branches...some were big, and others were small.

Then we had to decide where the branches would go.

After that we had to weave the branches through some string that was tied around a hoop.

Then it was time to add the flowers...we liked the bluebells best, we thought that they had a good name because the flowers are blue and look like little bells

It took a long time, and we had to concentrate hard, because it was very fiddly making sure the flowers wouldn't fall off again...

...but we kept going...

...and going...

Sometimes the flowers were too long, so we had to cut them to the right length

The room smelt lovely with all the flowers and leaves and herbs

I really liked the fresh smell of the mint leaves.

And finally the garland was finished. Jacqui tied some bows around the flowers to make sure that none of them fell off.

I very carefully carried the garland outside...it was a bit tricky because it was big, but I managed it!

We decided to hang the garland up, so that everyone could see it

We thought it looked great in the garden!

We hope you enjoyed seeing our May Day fun!

In panda room we have been....

Covering the mirror insert with bubbles
The children liked to swish there hands through the bubbles.
Attempt to climb in and blow them
Oh look.... I can see myself in the mirror. I look a bit wobbly and funny.
I also liked to cover my hands in bubbles and pretend to wash my body.
We have also been exploring the sand using spoons and beakers.

We also experimented with the sand by seeing what it tastes like.

I think there faces say it all !!

I liked to scoop up the sand and feel the texture of it.

We have also been painting using tools such as brushes, sponges and rollers.......

and we got VERY messy whist enjoying the sensory experience of the paint.
We also liked dipping the sponges in the paint and printing it out onto the paper.

We have also been enjoying the soft play.

We climbed, balanced and crawled over the shapes.
Look at my clever balancing whilst going down the slope.

Easter Egg Hunt

It was nearly Easter, and the ladies said if we looked in the garden we might find something.

We looked everywhere!

We found some eggs with numbers on them.

There were lots of them.

Some of us counted how many we had found.

Then we all told Katherine which numbers we had found. We're getting really good at recognising our numbers!

Tess brought out some small chocolate eggs

We sorted them into groups as to which colour wrappers they had.

Then we guessed which group was largest, and we counted them to see if we were right, We were! The blue group was biggest!

After all that hard work we were allowed to try some of the chocolate. It was yummy!

We hope your Easter was as much fun as ours.
