Red Nose week

Red Nose week

We had a very busy week trying to raise money for Red Nose Day.

We used tubes to make red noses on our paper.
Look how many noses we made!
We decorated biscuits with red icing. The icing did look a little pink!!  It was good fun eating them too!!
We came in to nursery with crazy hair.  What do you think about my red hair?
We didn't know what colour to have in my hair so i had all of them!!
To go with our crazy hair we painted pictures of crazy hair.

To finish off our week we all dress up. We had some very great costumes.

You should hear how loud I can roar!!
Thank you for all your kind donations

Favourite Books

Favourite Books this week and the children were encouraged to bring along and share their favourite books from home.

Some books were full of adventure, while others were very humorous!

We re-arranged Elephant Room and turned it into the Pepperbox Nursery Library. The children also helped to put stickers on some red cards (they were our library cards!) and worked very hard to get the stickers absolutely straight.

Then on Thursday, we had a lovely surprise visit from Frome Library's very own Naomi! She told us all about the local Library and how to borrow books, CDs and DVDs among other things. She also read lots of books to us and sang some songs. She left some activity sheets for us to do, too. What a fantastic experience! Thank you so much, Naomi!

Display based on one of our very favourite books:

Two Weeks of Learning Fun in Elephant Room

These past two weeks started off quietly enough...

The children wanted to look after some animals. They made enclosures for each type of animal and assigned zoo keepers.

All was well... until feeding time came and then chaos!
Some leopards started climbing over the warthogs' fence, a sea lion has gotten lost in the zebra cage, the monkeys have unpicked the locks to let the dolphins out and the fish have flooded the giraffe's field!

Road Safety Week

The trick to managing traffic well involves a few important things:

A high visibility
jacket -- check!

A bunch of traffic
signs -- check!

And the most important of all: law-abiding motorists -- check!

The grown-ups showed the children how the traffic lights worked and what they mean: Red, Amber, Green!

Then, the children had a go at controlling the traffic.

It is also important that motorists know what other street signs mean.

Usually, the traffic at the Pepperbox City flows smoothly. But every once in a while there may be a traffic control officer who forgets to put the "GO" sign back on.
Oh, no! How long does it take?

 Finally! Let's go!

Meanwhile, at the other side of the Pepperbox City...

Shadow puppets. But that's a whole different story.
