The last week of January saw the children exploring the colour GREEN.
They mixed some cornflour, water and paint (blue and yellow, to be exact!). They played with the two colours separately, then 'decided' to combine these and lo and behold... it turned green!
Towards the end of this week, the children had a lovely relaxing chill-out time just enjoying each other's company so the grown-ups decided to break out each child's tracking books. These books have all their All About Me Books, WOW Sheets (newest discoveries and experiences), and the EYFS Profile tracking each child's journey as he/she learns and develops.
February ushered in yet more cold weather and the children decided to play with the penguins and polar bears. We know that they do not normally live together, but the children would not have it any other way. They even built their little icy community a lovely little ski slope for the penguins to slide down!
Red Week
This coming Sunday is Chinese New Year, one of best times of the year to explore new things and experiences. We started off with using noodles to print our lovely pictures which the children themselves hung on our display wall.
For lunch, the stir-fry vegetables with noodles and/or rice went down very well. The children loved the prawn crackers most especially!
And guess what... we found some cardboard inserts which would make a perfect dragon head, so we painted these and waited a long time for them to dry.
But by Thursday, we were ready to make our lovely Chinese New Year Dragon... and what a pretty dragon she was! The children made some long lashes and taught her to do a dance all around the garden!
Friday, the children were up for a little wander around the neighbourhood to look for red objects. We called this adventure "Going On A RED Hunt!" Look at all the objects we found!
