Nativity

Our First Nativity play went really well, with the lovely children re-enacting the very  first Christmas! Here's a sneak peek at our preparations:

Mary checks on the Baby before curtain call.
Does this mask make me look sheepish?
Places, everyone!
A Nativity Story
(as told by a child aged 3 years and 9 months)

         Well.

There was Mary -- just Mary at first -- then the Angel came. The Angel said to Mary, "You're going to have a baby."

And Mary said, "No, I'm not! Oh... yes I am."

The Angel said, "Yes you are. You will have a baby and the baby's Jesus... Je-sus."

Mary told Joseph. Joseph said, "I'm not very happy," and Mary said, "I know."

In the night, Joseph fell asleep and then the Angel came into his dream. When Joseph woke up he found a letter written by the Angel. The letter said, "You must go to Bethlehem and pay your taxes."

Mary went on the donkey and Joseph walk by the donkey all the way to Bethlehem. The inn-keeper said, "No room! You have to go round the back to the stable."

That night, when Mary fell asleep, when she was snoring, Baby Jesus was born.

The shepherds were asleep in their tents. The Angels appeared. And the Angels talked to the shepherds about the baby in the stable, and the shepherds was off to see.

The three Wise Men, they saw a glowing star in the sky. They went on their camels. It was a long way. They gave presents to Baby Jesus. There was Gold, Myrrh and Frankincense.

There were animals there, too. There were sheep, cows and donkeys as well as the camels. And there were loads of stars outside. Mary wrapped him in some white cloth and made a little bed for Baby Jesus and put him in the manger.

And they all lived happily ever after.

I'm a little Angel, a perfect little Angel!
Following, oh, following a very shiny star!
Clippity-clippity clop, donkeys do not stop!

Being in a successful play is thirsty work.
Congratulations go to all our talented children!

December Christmas Fun 2012 Party Time

Dolphins December 2012

Christmas Fun

We have had to become very confident in using scissors in Dolphin room for our Christmas craft activities.

The 2-year-olds are cutting cards for their Christmas cards using one hand to manouvre their scissors.

We have made cards, masks, calendars and tree decorations during December.

Christmas Lunch

Chefs Petra and Ottie made us a delicious roast chicken Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Guess what! We even all had at least one sprout to try.

It was really nice to sit with all of the grown-ups, too. I hope the adults ate all of their vegetables before having the amazing Chocolate log and Cheesecake for desert.
Pigs in blankets!

You will never guess who came to Nursery...
that's right,
Father Christmas came to see us and bought every room a present.

After lunch we were able to open the present

Thank you, Father Christmas, for our Cogs and Marble run.

Christmas Party

We began by dancing to some christmas songs and playing musical bumps.

The entertainer was a funny  man called Paul. We all sat while he performed magic tricks.

Chelsea was one of the volunteers to help Paul paint a magic picture .

After all the dancing and laughing it was time for party snack and drinks.
We also had a chance to see the stage where we would perform our Nativity.

Halloween and Bonfire fun with visit from Vet

October 2012-November 2012 Dolphin Room

We had a fantastically spooky time making bats and reading stories such as 'Winnie the Witch' and our favourite 'Room on the Broom' to celebrate Halloween.

Some children even thought they would try to fly away on their broom sticks.

Firework Fun

We had such messy fun creating our own firework pictures. For this we filled balloons with paint and water. We had to throw the balloons hard to make them explode on the black paper.

The day the Vet came

We were so grateful to Leanne the Vet who bought in her giant Rabbit and spoke to the children about caring for animals.
The children have then continued to Role play with our new Vets case looking after teddies and toy animals.

Thank you, Generous Families: Our Operation Christmas Child 2012

We are so blessed to have such caring and generous Families who have helped make the Operation Christmas Child a success. Thank you very much!

The children proudly (and rather excitedly) carried their wonderful gifts up the road.

Oh, Christmas Tree! Oh, Christmas Tree!

Baubles and tinsel everywhere...

The children helped put the Christmas tree up in Elephant Room and found it was trickier than it looked!

First the tree...
then the lights...
then the chains...
then the tinsel...
then the baubles...

then more baubles...

and yet more baubles!

(Maybe one more bauble won't hurt!)
