The children were encouraged to recognise that each and everyone is part of their family and a part of our Nursery setting, too. We listened to others talk about their home, families and pets. The children were also allowed to look at their profile books independently and to turn the pages to see how they have grown, from being a baby while they were in Panda Room, to being in Dolphin Room and now as a big boy/girl in Elephant Room!
This week we have been trying our hand at copying our names on a piece of paper. We have also been drawing whatever we liked to draw. Some of the children drew their family members and others drew the favourite things they liked to do at Nursery. We posted these artwork onto our big display board, while our names were stuck on the small display board near the Writing Table in Elephant Room.

Travel by Road: Locality Walk
Right, off to Tesco Express we go, armed with some pennies and a mission. We were asked by our lovely Chef to buy some strawberries while we were out on our locality walk. The children practised walking safely, looking left and right for passing cars and buses before crossing the roads.
They also tried to read street names and traffic symbols as they neared the store. Upon arrival to Tesco's, Tess divided the children into two groups in search of a punnet of strawberries. The team that found the strawberries got to pay for these (they also had to count the change!) and carry it back to headquarters.
... but not before a detour over a bridge and a picnic site where we also played "What's the Time, Mister Wolf?"
