Travel by Sea

This week in Dolphin and Elephant Rooms, we have been exploring different ways of travelling over water.

Interesting things we found out:

The children used some Lego to make their boats.
They used cogs for the propellers.

We can use a boat if we need to go to another island. There are ramps to let passengers and cars onto the boat.

There are different kinds of boats, some can carry only one person, others can carry cars, lorries or even chairs!

We learned that when a boat cracks or breaks, it might sink... but a little girl said, "If it is a submarine, then it's okay."

When she is the captain of her canal boat, Jacqui can take all the water out of the lock all by herself.

Did you know that some objects float (bottle tops) and others sink (plastic crocodiles!)? And boats made out of paper don't stay dry. In fact, they get wet and turn into bits.

Will it float? Will it sink?
How much water can it carry?

We played with an aqua duct and sailboats out in the garden for hours! When we turn the water wheel, the water flows faster. Food colouring made the water pink, and we called it "Ribena water". Adding glitter seemed the next logical thing to do!

Leavers party

Last week we held a leavers party at Frome Town Football club to wish our school leavers lots of happy times, fun and learning at their new schools.

The magician 'John' provided lots of entertainment with his magic tricks and puppets and made us laugh.

Rufus the dog made us laugh a lot. He played lots of naughty tricks on John...and us too!

I wonder what's in that bag?

We all wanted to have a go at the magic!

It took a special spell from a wizard to stop the wand being floppy.
