Dolphins Big Toddle 2012

What a lovely day today...we were lucky with the weather, the children appeared to enjoy themselves (well for most of the walk anyway) and the theme of 'Super Heroes' was a big hit with the children and the grown ups too.

It was fun holding hands with our friends and helping each other during the walk.

We walked all the way from nursery, through the Cheese Show field, out onto Nightingale Avenue, along Forest Road and back to nursery! phew!

Batman, Spiderman, A fireman & Buzz Lightyear were just some of the heroes we dressed up as today.
Many of us wore capes and masks that we made at nursery and were 'SUPER HEROES' of our own choosing.

This theme of 'Super Heroes' will feed into our planning this week to take this journey further and to encourage the children to build on their own strengths and see what super powers they have themselves...it might be good at making things, good at being kind or simply good at being good.

Frome Carnival: Through the Years

Last lap!
Everyone seems to have such a fabulous time during our Carnivals and we are hoping that this year is no exception.

Frome Carnival 2010:
At the Seaside
(Picnic by the Sea)
Carnival 2010: Getting ready to be judged
"Sand in our sandwiches,
Salt in our tea,
Oh, isn't it fun
To be down at the sea!"

We had a collection of adorable creatures such as crabs, lobsters, starfish, Nemo, mermaids, a hula girl, a shell and a fish. Some attendees also came as true British seaside icons such as sunbathers, a donkey rider, tourists carrying chips and with seagulls on their heads, Punch and Judy stage, sand castles, swimmers, lifeguards, ice cream vendor, beachball... the list was endless!

Send in the Clowns!
Frome Carnival 2011: Circus

What a grand day we had! As always, there was very good attendance from our dear families and fantastic support from the spectators. Quite a few commented on how cute the children looked and we quite agree!
Our Pepperbox Nursery Big Top was host to a variety of characters committed to delight and entertain! We had some strong men, acrobats, trapeze artists, lion tamer, lions, a tiger, ring master, magicians and, of course, our very lovable and helpful clowns!
Colourfule and varied as they are, most of our props, hats and costumes did not cost much to create because we sourced materials from a charity called the Scrapstore. For details about the Scrapstore, please ask the Nursery Manager.

Play Dough Recipe

Play Dough Recipe

1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 cup water (add food colouring)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Combine ingredients in a saucepan until blended well. Place on medium heat until the mixture changes colour and leaves the side of the pan. Knead for 5 minutes.

This is nearest to bought play dough and keeps a very long time in a container or sealed bag.
